The 26.2 with Donna Mission is to passionately produce world class events to raise funds for ground breaking breast cancer research and empower women living with breast cancer. Specifically, This marathon event is the only one in the country dedicated to finishing breast cancer. 70% of the funds raised by the event go to bench top research at Mayo Clinic. Bench top research is high risk, high reward research not traditionally funded by typical methods. With marathon funds, Mayo Clinic has established a Translational Genomics Team that will change the protocol for the treatment of breast cancer. 30% of the funds go to The Donna Foundation, serving the critical financial needs of those with breast cancer today.
The 110% Give Harder Foundation seeks to raise $110,000 for donation to the 26.2 with Donna Foundation to support breast cancer research. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the 26.2 with Donna.
Beginning on Saturday, February 11th, 2012, our team of dedicated runners will set out on a 110 mile journey in Jacksonville, Florida. Each of the runners will run nearly 84 miles through the night to get to the starting line of the 2012 26.2 With Donna Marathon. The runners will continue onto the course of the Donna Marathon and will run another 26.2 miles until the finish line.
We may believe in playing hard, but we believe in working smart. The 110% Give harder foundation will raise funds by leveraging individual fund raising efforts with corporate matching commitments. There is potential to leverage our model even further. If we are successful in achieving our fundraising target of $110,000, this should enable the donna 26.2 foundation to meet the fundraising requirement to receive the generous $100,000 matching gift commitment from the weaver foundation.
